Hello Brooklyn,

Hello Brooklyn,

This is my first post to you. I am 41 and I have just been through almost a year of treatments for Stage IIIa breast cancer. You were there through it, but it may just not have been something you understood, so I am writing this for you to try to understand things better when you are ready for them.

You are currently 5! A wonderful and beautiful age! I just love being with you so much as you learn right from wrong and how to navigate the world, like the big task of riding the bus to school. You are in kindergarten in Ms. Beazley’s class and quickly learning how to read and count and even simple math! You seem to love it all. I hope you can continue to love learning, as it is one of the greatest gifts of this lifetime. (Your Mommy holds two Bachelors of Science, a Masters of Business and is currently pursuing a Masters in Counseling.)

We just had Christmas in Austin with Aunt Cheetah and your cousins Harper and Quinn. We stayed with Nena and Papa Nena. It was a lovely trip, even though I was having such terrible tummy issues. Oh well. You had a wonderful time putting out cookies and carrots for Santa and Rudolf. The carrots were very important!

You are a perfect human creation of God (however God comes to you). Please take your earthly duties seriously, but also learn how to have fun. We are here to help others on this journey and to leave the place a little better than it was. This is all such heavy stuff to try to understand, but my dear if you sit quietly and listen, you will hear the truths being spoken in your heart and soul.

I love you so very much. You are a wonderful travel companion even if you get car sick and plane sick as we learned this year when you puked in your mask on the plane to Mexico. We wore masks because of the Covid-19 pandemic. I hope you learn that life isn’t always about pandemics as this has now been round for nearly half of your life.

Life is worth living. It can get very tough. Learn to lean on your loved ones, and to take care of your self with out relying on drugs or alcohol to get through the tough feelings. Yoga and exercise and proper nutrition and 7.5 to 9 hours of sleep are the tools for success.

Love,
Mommy
